Verena Zeiner was presented a composition award by INÖK for the work "The Unfolding" for violin, cello and piano.
A performance of the piece is scheduled for fall 2023.

Zum zweiten Mal wurde 2022 ein Kompositionspreis für Kammermusik auf Initiative der INÖK – Interessengemeinschaft Niederösterreichische KomponistInnen in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Allegro Vivo Festival, der Kulturabteilung des Landes Niederösterreich, der Musikfabrik NÖ und dem Musikverlag Doblinger österreichweit ausgeschrieben. Unter dem Thema „Metamorphosen“ wurden innovative Werke gesucht, die die Auseinandersetzung mit zeitgenössischen Kompositionsstilen berücksichtigen.
Der mit € 3.500,- dotierte Hauptpreis, eine Kompositionsförderung der Kulturabteilung des Landes Niederösterreich, ging an den niederösterreichischen Komponisten Philipp Manuel Gutmann für sein Klaviertrio „Leise atmen alle Blumen“, welches am 8. September 2023 im Ziersdorfer „Konzerthaus Weinviertel“ vom Altenberg-Trio im Rahmen des Allegro Vivo Festivals 2023 uraufgeführt wird.
Weitere Preisträger:innen sind Sonja Huber, Verena Zeiner, Otto Wanke (Anerkennungspreise der INÖK) sowie Berthold Cvach (Sonderpreis der Musikfabrik Niederösterreich).Die Jury (Vahid Khadem-Missagh, Ursula Erhart-Schwertmann, Nikolaus Straka, Richard Graf und Gottfried Zawichowski) zeigte sich erfreut über die Kreativität und das künstlerische Niveau der zahlreichen Einreichungen.

"On Connection" is the title of a composition by Verena Zeiner for piano quintet, that will premiere in April 2022 at Pforte (Feldkirch, Vorarlberg), played by Ensemble Louise Farrenc:
There is a finding that is the result of a search.
The goal is clearly defined. Something very specific has to be sought and ideally found.
But there is also a finding that occurs without a previous search. A finding that seems to be effortless.
It differs in its quality from the experience of finding after a results-oriented search. It is much more like perceiving, discovering or recognizing something that is simply there. Maybe it has been there all the time, waiting to be found.
Often finding happens in moments when the attention of one or more people is fully connected to the here and now: unanticipated, observing, perceiving, receiving, accepting. It's a connection that goes in all directions. Inwards, to oneself on all levels - physical, emotional, mental - and outwards, to the world and to the people around us.
Connection becomes connectedness.
Connectedness creates presence.
Presence allows: finding and being found.

Goodbye Fraufeld!

First things first: Fraufeld will go on! But I will leave.
I’m writing today’s announcement with one laughing and one crying eye, but also assuring that it is a well considered and well prepared step, that I take with a light heart, knowing that everything will be left in good hands.
Five years ago Sara Zlanabitnig and I founded Fraufeld, a platform dedicated to increasing the visibility of women in music. Milly Groz, Anna Anderluh and Joanna Quehenberger joined us a while ago and I am very proud of what we accomplished together. There is still a lot to do but it feels like we really contributed to getting some things moving.
Fraufeld took a lot of time and space in my life, I know it very well in all its details and have a strong emotional bond to it. But as life is evolving, there are new opportunities opening up for me, new creative projects knocking at my door and there are a lot of indications that change is necessary.
Also, Fraufeld brings attention to topics that affect us all. Therefore it’s important to share responsibilities, to keep a wide perspective and stay open for development.
Fraufeld will go on. 2022 is dedicated to restructuring and reorganizing it. Projects will pause for a while, to make space for this process.
Thank you Sara, Milly, Anna and Joanna from the bottom of my heart - for everything! Your time, energy, work, care, trust, persistence - and most of all thank you for your friendship.
Thank you to all the wonderful, openminded, openhearted, creative people that were involved and supported our projects! I don’t have the words to express what it means to me that I have met you all and I’m looking forward to future adventures!

The Wordless | Videorelease

The Wordless is the first piece of music from the upcoming album The Sweetness of Finitude, a duo album created together with Ziv Ravitz on drums.
The full album will be released on January 14, 2022 (Sessionwork Records).
